Girls Support Center is a women-led organization working with teenage mothers, girls at risk of early marriage and school dropouts — through education, skills, health and rights advocacy. Every girl deserves the chance to learn, grow and thrive.
About Us
GIRLS SUPPORT CENTER (GSC) is a Non-Governmental women-led Organization founded in 2019 by women with a zeal for community empowerment, in response to the gendered impacts of infectious disease outbreaks and their propensity to a huge death rate population — combined with widespread poverty that creates a staggering reality, where teenage mothers, victims of child marriages, women, youth, orphans and vulnerable children are left to fight for their survival, making them prone to abuse and exploitation.
The Organization developed a holistic approach which meets the Health, Education, Livelihoods and spiritual needs of the disadvantaged categories of people in Uganda to create normal change. We believe that the person who best understands the needs of the woman is the woman.
Our mission: To mobilize girls in the community and schools to achieve gendered community treatment, access and opportunity to self-actualization and achievement — to realize the girl child’s contribution in our society through training and supporting initiatives that strengthen the girls, for a strong girl and a strong world.

How We Work
Every girl who comes to GSC moves through a pathway designed to restore her dignity and give her something to build on.
Community volunteers, schools and local leaders identify girls who are out of school, at risk of early marriage, or in an unsafe home — and link them to GSC.
Girls receive counselling, safe space, health information and basic needs, alongside their families and communities being engaged to change the situation.
Each girl is supported back into school or into vocational training, and given the startup support she needs to earn a living and stand on her own.
Where We Work
GSC works in Kamuda, Aukot and Asuret Sub Counties and Soroti City — areas selected because of the scale of the teenage pregnancy and school dropout problem.
