Girls Support Center (GSC) is a women-led, non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women in Soroti District. We focus on education, skills training, advocacy and social support to help girls overcome challenges such as teenage pregnancies, early marriages and gender-based violence.

Our key programmes include: Education Support — scholarships, school re-entry programmes and mentorship; Economic Empowerment — vocational skills training and entrepreneurship support; Girls’ Rights Advocacy — raising awareness on gender equality and child protection; Health & Reproductive Rights — sensitization on sexual health, family planning and menstrual hygiene; and Social Support & Rehabilitation — counselling, shelter and support for vulnerable girls.

Our programmes are designed for vulnerable girls and young women facing poverty, abuse or school dropout; teenage mothers who need skills training and support; victims of gender-based violence and early marriages; and young women seeking economic empowerment and self-reliance.

We provide alternative education and skills training to ensure that girls who have dropped out due to pregnancy, forced marriage or financial struggles can rebuild their future. Our support includes vocational training, counselling and school reintegration programmes.

We provide counselling, life skills training, parenting education and economic empowerment opportunities to help teenage mothers become self-reliant and care for their children.

Yes — we offer temporary shelter and emergency support for girls facing abuse, abandonment or teenage pregnancy, while working to reintegrate them into a safe environment. A permanent Girls’ Safe Haven and rehabilitation centre is a planned future development.

We actively engage parents, local leaders and community members to raise awareness about girls’ rights and education, prevent early marriages and gender-based violence, and provide support and mentorship to vulnerable girls.

Girls and young women in need can reach out to us directly, be referred by community leaders, or apply through our local office. We assess each case and offer the most suitable support.

You can support us by donating funds or resources (school materials, sanitary pads, vocational tools and similar); sponsoring a girl’s education or skills training; or volunteering your expertise in training, mentoring or advocacy.
