Girls Support Center (GSC) is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty among vulnerable girls, teenage mothers and young women by providing them with skills and opportunities to become financially independent. Our Economic Empowerment & Livelihood Support programmes focus on equipping beneficiaries with practical knowledge, resources and mentorship to improve their economic well-being.
Vocational Skills Training
- Offering hands-on training in tailoring, hairdressing, baking, crafts and other marketable skills.
- Partnering with skilled professionals to provide high-quality technical training.
- Ensuring that teenage mothers and school dropouts acquire skills that enable them to earn a living.
Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development
- Providing business development training, including financial literacy, budgeting and marketing.
- Supporting young women in setting up small businesses through mentorship and guidance.
- Facilitating market access for locally made products such as crafts, baked goods and textiles.
Start-Up Capital & Equipment Support
- Assisting trained girls with basic tools, equipment and materials to start their own businesses.
- Offering grants or interest-free loans to help beneficiaries establish sustainable income-generating activities.
- Partnering with financial institutions to improve access to credit and financial support.
Women-Led Savings & Investment Groups
- Forming savings and loan groups to encourage financial discipline and investment.
- Providing training on saving strategies, cooperative management and microfinance opportunities.
- Encouraging peer support and community-driven financial growth.
Job Placement & Internship Opportunities
- Connecting trained girls to employment opportunities in various industries.
- Partnering with local businesses and organizations to offer internships and apprenticeships.
- Supporting career growth by linking beneficiaries to networking and mentorship programmes.
Agriculture & Sustainable Livelihood Programmes
- Training young women in agribusiness, poultry farming and sustainable farming techniques.
- Providing access to land, tools and seedlings for those interested in farming as a livelihood.
- Encouraging self-sufficiency through agricultural cooperatives and agribusiness ventures.
Community Awareness & Engagement
- Conducting workshops and sensitization programmes on financial independence and self-reliance.
- Encouraging families and communities to support women’s economic empowerment.
- Advocating for policies that promote equal economic opportunities for women and girls.
Through these initiatives, Girls Support Center ensures that vulnerable girls and young women gain the skills, resources and support they need to achieve financial independence and improve their quality of life.
